Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography is a type of X-ray imaging that uses digital X-ray sensors to replace traditional photographic X-ray film, producing enhanced computer images of teeth, gums, and other oral structures and conditions.

Digital dental images are acquired through three methods: the direct method, indirect method and semi-indirect method. The direct method uses an electronic sensor placed in the mouth to record images. The indirect technique uses an X-ray film scanner to view traditional dental X-rays as digital images. The semi-indirect digital technique combines a sensor and scanner to convert dental X-rays into digital film.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal therapy can take various forms, but the goal is always to restore diseased tissues to health. Gum (periodontal) disease can spread from the gums to the bone that supports the teeth, and may even cause tooth loss in the most severe cases. There are very effective therapies to combat this, ranging from scalings (deep cleanings) that remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from beneath the gum line, to surgical repair of lost gum and bone tissue.

Sealants

Deep grooves on molar teeth are the sites for most cavities in children. Sealants fill in these areas protecting them from decay.  They are basically shallow fillings!  The procedure is easily tolerated and, in most cases done without anesthetics (shots) or the drill.  Sealants are most useful when placed on the grooves of the teeth as soon as they are exposed to the oral cavity (all the way through the gums).

Nightguard

Some people subconsciously grind their teeth at night while they sleep and cause damage to their teeth and jaw. We can make a custom-fitted nightguard that will protect your teeth against grinding and reduce the symptoms of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder. TMJ can cause headaches, jaw pain, and other painful conditions.

Restorative Dentistry

Fillings, Inlays, and Onlays

When you come for a dental exam, our dentist checks your fillings and may suggest that you replace any loose or broken ones. Your dentist also looks for signs of decay, such as brown or black spots and may want to use X-rays to take a closer look at problem spots. If you have a cavity, your dentist may keep an eye on it (if it’s small) or fill it right away. If a large cavity is not filled, it can get bigger and cause pain. The tooth may even have to be removed or replaced. See before and after.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal, is used to help save damaged or diseased teeth. In some situations, an extraction may be used as an alternative to the root canal. However, if you move forward with this treatment, it will require removing the pulp and nerve from inside the tooth and replacing it with a solid material that will prevent infection. The number of visits depends on the number of root canals required, how major the infection is and where the tooth is located. Because of the need for crowns, you may require one or two more appointments for this aspect.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully covers that portion of a tooth which lies at and above the gum line. Crowns are used to rebuild broken or decayed teeth, to strengthen teeth, and as a means by which to enhance the cosmetic appearance of teeth. Crowns can be made out of porcelain/ceramic, gold alloy, or a combination of both. See before and after.

Dentures

Dentures are just one option for replacing missing teeth; some of the others include fixed bridgework and dental implants. Each method has its particular pluses and minuses, which should be carefully considered. There are also several varieties of dentures available to address specific issues, from partial dentures and full dentures. The best option for you will depend on your individual situation.

Implant Restorations

Implant restoration by attaching artificial teeth to implants anchored in the bone below the gum line. After the anchor has been surgically placed in the jawbone, excess bone and gum grow around the implant, holding it firmly in place. An artificial tooth can then be attached to the implant. The end result is a strong secure tooth that is virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Oral Surgery

While keeping your natural teeth is always our number one goal, sometimes a tooth is too damaged or infected to be saved. In those cases, we recommend a tooth extraction, which we can perform in our office. A simple extraction is the removal of a tooth that is already visible in your mouth. If your tooth hasn’t erupted yet, the procedure is more complicated and will involve surgery.

Snap on Smile

Snap-On Smile is a comfortable, removable dental appliance that involves no drilling, filing down of existing tooth structure, injections, cementation nor adhesives.  Its patented design is flexible, incredibly strong, and functional. The slightly flexible material (acetyl resin) used in the fabrication of Snap-On Smile  allows it to expand over the teeth and hug them tightly so the patient can eat and speak without the appliance coming loose or shifting. See before and after.

TMJ

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) problems related to your jaw joint. If you have had symptoms like pain or a “clicking” sound, you’ll be glad to know that these problems are more easily diagnosed and treated than they were in the past. These symptoms occur when the joints of the jaw and the chewing muscles do not work together correctly. Since some types of TMJ problems can lead to more serious conditions, early detection and treatment are important.

Veneers

More people are turning to veneers as a popular method of improving their smile. These veneers are typically made from porcelain and are thin and translucent. They are bonded permanently to the tooth, typically covering the top and front of the tooth. They are used to improve the aesthetics by correcting crowding issues, as well as replacing composite bonding and restoring other issues with your teeth.

Invisalign®

Invisalign® is an orthodontic system that uses special trays or aligners that fit closely over the teeth and move teeth into ideal alignment over time. Aligners are made of clear, smooth plastic so they’re virtually invisible while they’re being worn. The aligners are custom made for each patient and are worn in a specific sequence to keep teeth moving toward alignment. Between 18 and 30 aligners are used during an average treatment with Invisalign®. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and then “swapped” with the next aligner in the sequence.
